Our Goals

1

Our welcoming preschool stands apart by offering child-centric designs and high-quality teaching, influenced by our love of nature. Perfectly located in the heart of Bowes Park, our nursery is embedded right in the centre of the community we’re proud to be part of.

2

At Woodland Wanderers, we’re big fans of the Montessori Approach, which we blend with the benefit of a forest school education. Here, we can really embrace the essence of sustainability – something which is deeply ingrained in our ethos. We believe there are strong links between all three of these disciplines, and we want to help our children gain a deep understanding of them through our child-centred, holistic and empowering curriculum.

Our inclusive approach to child development – where soft skills, hard skills and mental health are valued equally – enables everyone to flourish in our setting. We seek to nurture well-rounded, capable children who are equipped to deal with the challenges of life as they are encountered.

Community

Our community is central to who we are and our children are a key part of that. We want to help our children share the joy of our outward-facing ethos and our appreciation of different cultures and languages.

Montessori

Maria Montessori was a pioneer in childcare. For those not familiar with her work, here’s the deal on how we bring her method to life in our nursery.

Forest school

We inspire our children to nurture their innate love of nature and the world around them, with a weekly dose of forest school immersion. Through our varied phenology-based curriculum, we can demonstrate to our little ones the fascinating natural phenomena of the seasons.

Sustainability

We believe early childhood education settings should examine their own ‘ecological footprints’ and work towards reducing waste in energy, water and materials. This is how we operate at Woodland Wanderers, where we practise our eco-based principles every day.

Wondering what the tree
in our logo is all about?

It’s a Baobab tree and you can read more about it here.

We chose this tree for our logo as it embodies all the things we strive to be as a nursery: nourishing, bountiful and resourceful. Every part of this incredible tree can be used for something, aligning with our ‘minimal waste’ ethos.

The spirit of this tree feels like part of the soul of the Woodland Wanderers family and we love bringing it to life in our conversations with the children.

What our parents say about us...

"Our daughter had a wonderful, nurturing experience at Woodland Wanderers. The setting is calm and light, with lots of wonderful Montessori materials. She spent time outside in nature as part of forest school and we loved the fact that she had this experience as part of her day. The staff are kind, attentive and loving, we would definitely recommend this setting."
